Large Ohio Cannabis Product Recall

Ohio’s Division of Cannabis Control has issued a Class II recall for certain cannabis products made by Beneleaves Limited, a licensed processor based in Columbus, Ohio.

This is not a quality issue. The recall was triggered due to non-child-resistant packaging. There are no contamination concerns, no reported adverse effects, and the cannabis itself is not defective. This is strictly about packaging compliance.

Who is Beneleaves?

Beneleaves is one of Ohio’s first medical cannabis processors. They are minority- and woman-owned and operate only as a processor. I recently toured their facility, and it was clean, secure, and highly professional. I wasn’t even allowed to bring my phone inside.

My Partnership Disclosure:

I have a white-label partnership with Beneleaves for my Mastamynd Cannabis vapes. At this time, none of my products appear on the recall list. We’re continuing to monitor the situation.

What’s Affected:

The recall covers products sold between April 20, 2023, and July 8, 2025, including gummies, cookies, capsules, and vape cartridges from various Beneleaves lines.

What To Do:

Check your packaging for product ID numbers. If you have an affected product, return it to the dispensary for a refund, or store it in a child-resistant container away from children. Returned products will not count against your 90-day possession limit. To report any issues, call the DCC at 1-833-464-6627.

TOPIC: Beneleaves Limited – Packaging Not Certified as Child -Resistant

TYPE: Class II Product Recall: A class II recall indicates there is a remote probability of experiencing adverse health consequences from consuming the product.

ISSUE: The Division of Cannabis Control (DCC or Division) is issuing a product recall for certain cannabis products manufactured by Beneleaves Limited (“Beneleaves”), license CCP000016-00. A customer who purchased a product at a dispensary alerted the DCC that the affected packaging did not appear to be child resistant. The recall specifically targets capsules for oral administration, vape products, and edibles that were improperly packaged in non-child-resistant bags, which violates Division’s rules aimed at ensuring products are packaged safely and limit any potential risks to public health and child safety.

The Division has placed a hold on all Beneleaves products in these affected categories so that no additional products in non-compliant packages are distributed to or sold at dispensaries.

A product recall was determined to be the most appropriate course of action, as a child accessing the product could result in adverse health consequences. No adverse events have been reported. Anyone who experiences adverse health effects after consuming the affected product should contact their health care provider immediately and report the event to the DCC at 1-833-464-6627. The DCC recommends that non-medical consumers and medical marijuana patients either securely store the product in a child-resistant package that is out of the reach of children or return it to the dispensary of purchase for a refund. The DCC will provide any updates, as necessary.
