In a troubling development for Ohio’s medical cannabis community, a major data breach has exposed the personal information of nearly one million patients. According to multiple sources, including The Marijuana Herald and WIRED, Ohio Marijuana Card experienced a breach involving sensitive medical records and patient identification data.
This is more than just a typical data breach. When medical information is involved, the stakes are higher. As a patient myself who used Ohio Marijuana Card back in 2018, I know firsthand how concerning it is that I haven’t heard anything from the company. Under Ohio law, they’re required to notify affected individuals within 45 days, so if you haven’t been contacted, it’s time to reach out.
You can contact Ohio Marijuana Card directly at info@ohiomarijuanacard.com or call (866) 457-5559 to ensure you’re informed.
As we publish this article on Thursday, we urge everyone to stay vigilant. This breach is not just a local issue; it’s a reminder of the importance of data security in the medical cannabis space nationwide. Stay safe, stay informed, and take steps to protect your personal information.
