Ohio Senators Plan to vote on SB56 tomorrow to restrict Cannabis and Hemp. We can still stop them

Alright, everyone, let’s keep this brief and to the point. We need to stop Senate Bill 56, and we need to do it now. The vote is tomorrow, and if we act today, we might delay or stop it.

Here’s the deal: Senate Bill 56 undoes protections Ohio voters approved. It means only licensed dispensaries can sell cannabis accessories, hitting every head shop, smoke shop, and corner store. It impacts housing and employment protections—landlords can evict for cannabis use, and if you’re fired for cannabis, you lose unemployment benefits. It also removes probable cause protections for medical patients and industry employees, making it easier for searches if there’s a cannabis smell. And yes, it restricts home growers from getting seeds and clones. It can even affect professional licenses, state-funded benefits, and child custody situations if you’re involved with cannabis.

So here’s what to do: Go to the Ohio Senate website, find your Ohio State Senator by entering your address, and use the Contact Us form on their page. Keep your message short and clear. Tell them you’re a voter and that you want them to vote no on Senate Bill 56. Briefly explain how it will impact you—whether as a consumer, a patient, or a business owner. The key is to be polite and to the point so your message is heard.

And one more thing: Don’t forget that the Ohio Cannabis Expo is coming up on May 22-23, 2026, at the Makoy Center. Tickets are on sale now—let’s come together as a community.

Finally, we want to hear from you. Drop a comment below about how this bill affects you, and let’s get the conversation started. Your voice matters, and the more we share, the more we can make an impact.
